The PROSPECTS Foundation currently supports 7 Panels, which are based in towns throughout Hyndburn. Each Panel is a community group made up of local residents, or those with an interest in that particular area, and membership is open to anyone.
Each member brings something to the group, whether it be local knowledge or technical expertise and by harnessing these skills and experience, the Panels are able to identify local environmental needs.
In response to these needs the Panels work to develop locally owned projects, which contribute to environmental sustainability.
Throughout 2004 and 2005 , each of the Panels took part in a Community Appraisal. The aim of this was to engage with members of the community in order to understand local residents' priorities when focusing on sustainability issues.
As a result of the Community Appraisals each Panel was able to identify new projects to be developed in the future, a number of which are now almost complete.
The Community Appraisals were also used to raise awareness of The PROSPECTS Foundation and Panels, and to invite local residents to become involved in future activity.
