2nd and 30th June (Saturday)  = Butterfly Biomes - Parts 1 and 2 -  you needed to attended both sessions of this activity to complete your woodcrafted bug hotel. Workshop from 10:00am to 13:00pm each session.  Course FULL.  Next course is 14th & 28th July - Bee Hotel/B&B!

5th June (Tuesday) = Hanging Baskets for Flying Insects with Lyndsie Snape, Potty About Herbs, (ex Botany Bay).  A home and food station for summer and winter use in your garden and backyard.  Booking Essential. Course FULL.
 
6th June (Wednesday) = *Planting Up Planters with Baxenden Community Forum, Hollins Lane.  Contact frandmcvan@gmail.com for details.
 
13th, 20th and 27th June (Wednesday 10am to 4pm) = *DRY STONE WALLING – Taster Days. Learn a heritage skill with guidance from a Dry Stone Walling Association Master Craftsman. The location is Hill Street, Baxenden. Sessions are FREE. Pre-booking is essential via Hyndburn Borough Council. Wear strong boots with steel toes, work clothes including water proofs. Bring a packed lunch and refreshments each day. Minimum age 18. 14th June (Thursday)EVENING WALK with PROSPECTS and RIBBLE RIVERS TRUST to Slate Pitts. We will look at the rivers and lodges on The Coppice and the work being done by Ribble Rivers at Slate Pits Farm. The walk will look at the wildlife and water features of the sites. From Arden Hall Gates, top of Plantation Road, Accrington BB5 2DQ Grid Ref: SD769286. Distance: 4-5miles. 16th & 17th June =PLAN BEE see the presentation about Bees HERE and
PLAN BEE - The Lancashire Wildlife Trust has just been successful in securing a Windfall grant towards extending their Plan Bee project into Hyndburn. The Plan Bee project seeks to increase knowledge in and awareness of a wide range of pollinators in Lancashire Wildlife Trust’s area. The project will undertake volunteer led surveys of pollinators including solitary bees, bumblebees, hoverflies, sawflies and butterflies in upland areas of Hyndburn around Accrington, Baxenden and Oswaldtwistle Moor. The survey data collected will be fed into ongoing national surveys and will also help to inform management recommendations for landowners. The Project Officer, Ben Hargreaves, is looking for volunteers to help with the survey work from the beginning of May onwards.

20th June (Wednesday 0930 to 4pm approx.) = RIVERFLY TRAINING with RIBBLE RIVERS TRUST. These one day workshops give volunteers the advice and training required in order to safety and effectively help to monitor river health. Topics covered include how the scheme works, health and safety and in depth information about the life cycle and ecology of our target species: the up-winged flies, caddisflies or sedges, stoneflies and freshwater shrimp (Ephemeroptera, Trichoptera, Plecoptera, and Gammarus). The Training Centre, Oak Hill Park, 113 Manchester Rd, Accrington BB5 2NY and Woodnook Water.
