FEBRUARY & MARCH 2019

 

5th February (Tuesday) = GARDENING CLUB – Accrington Women’s Centre Gardening Club is a small friendly group that meet for a chat and a brew and to have a go at growing their own food and plants for the home, a garden or on a windowsill.  Learn how to grow vegetables in pots, flowers to feed butterflies and herbs for cooking.  They meet 10:00am to 12oon - on the first Tuesday of every month at the Lancashire Women’s Centre, 21-23 Blackburn Road, Accrington BB5 1LF.  For more information or a chat please contact Julie on 07799 295233 or email Julie.livesey@prospectsfoundation.org.uk  Poster HERE soon

17 February (Sunday) = Canal and River Trust Wellbeing Walk.  LeedsLiverpool Canal Hyndburn.  Organised by the Canal & River Trust the walk is led by Michael Counter, Ramblers Association.  Meet on Spring Street, just off High Street, Rishton BB1 4LL.  The walk is six miles.  Please wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear.  You may aso like to bring a packed lunch.  This is NOT a PROSPECTS event but Barbara Sharples, Activity Organiser at PROSPECTS will be joining the walk so pleae come along to enjoy a walk in Hyndburn.  Poster HERE

13th March (Wednesday) = Basic Cycle Maintenance - FREE Basic Bike Maintenance covering: M Check; Identifying wear and tear on a bike; How to mend a puncture; Adjusting brake blocks / levers; Gear indexing; Cleaning and lubrication of bike parts; Time for questions.  Great course to help you gain confidence to make minor adjustments whilst out on your bike.  Bring a bike and any tools you may wish to use, however all equipment is provided.  This course is fully funded by Connecting East Lancashire / Lancashire County Council and available to adults living, working, studying or volunteering in East Lancashire Hyndburn Districy who are aged 16 and above.  Poster HERE

Monday and Tuesday (see the February 2019 Newsletter and What's On above) for details of volunteering opportunities on Monday 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th February and Tuesday 5th, 12th 19th and 26th February.  Sessions are 10:30 to 2:30 or as much as you can do!

 Improving Hyndburn's Wildlife Project 

 2018 = This project ended on 31st December 2018  Pop into PROSPECTS and complete an end of project Survey and receive a FREE packet of wildflower seeds.. You will also be entered into a FREE DRAW with a chance to win a wildlife habitat for your garden or backyard.
