The Great Oswaldtwistle Walk (GOW) was started in 1967 by Oswaldtwistle Civic Society.  The annual walk no longer takes place and we think the last one was in 2002 or 2004. The walk includes some of Lancashire's finest scenery from the West Pennine Moors.  The walk was started from Oswaldtwistle Mills and there were three routes of 11, 15 and 21 miles.  The walks was described as one for all the family! I am fraid we only have the map and no detailed instructions but there are still quite a lot of the 'GOW' waymarkers along the routes.

Click here for the maps leaflet 2002 walk and a bit of history Download.  Here are the written instructions for the 2002 walk and the 2004 walk.  These are old routes and have not been checked so you will need a good map  and we cannot gurantee acess and that all the footpaths and bridleways are accessible!
