Green Team on the Move!
A local group is reducing the number of meetings it holds in order to become a more practical, hand on group environmental group. Great Harwood PROSPECTS Panel meetings will now only be held four times a year and more time will be focussed improving local woods and open spaces.
"We will now be heading to the woods on the first Saturday of each month from 10 am-1.00 pm. If people want to come along and see what we are up to they are very welcome. We will be concentrating our efforts on improving wildlife habitats and tasks will include small tree felling & coppicing, hedge creation, bird & bat box building & installation, wildflower bulb & plug planting, footpath work & general scrub work.
"This is an ideal opportunity for people to learn new skills, meet new friends, enjoy outdoor activities in the fresh air, get fit, start a new hobby and help us make a difference.
Two woods have been chosen - one is adjacent to Hyndburn Road and leads up to Whalley Road and the other is at Edge End. The Panel will be working at Hyndburn Road on Saturday 3rd September, 5th November, 7th January and 3rd March. On Saturday 1st October, 3rd December, 4th February and 7th April they will be in Edge End Wood. Volunteers should wear suitable clothing and footwear but all tools are provided.
