Hands on Huncoat Railway Station

Hands on Huncoat Railway Station is a project organised to rejuvenate the platforms of Huncoat Train Station. and improve the amentiy for passengers as well as to create a good impression of the village.

Organised by Barbara Russell, husband John Russell and friends Bill Kitching and Nigel Berry, the group have already made a noticeable difference at the station but improvements and maintenance are ongoing.

The aim of the project is to not only clean up the station but to also encourage people to want to use the station more often and to help towards climate change. The group have been supported by the Community Rail partnership to enable them to carry out improvements and Hyndburn Borough Council kindly donated planters.

Many compliments have been paid by passengers and rail users and one of the team stalwarts John Russell received the Prospector of the Year Award in 2012.
