Oswaldtwistle PROSPECTS Panel

Some years ago a group of residents got together to protect the parcel of land known as Coach Road Meadows when William Blythe declared their intention to sell. The PROSPECTS Foundation came to the rescure with a plan to develop a "Green Business Park" on the site and the Oswaldtwistle PROSPECTS Panel was set up. Since then, the site has been purchased. It has been thoroughly surveyed and there isnow an outline planning application under development.

The Panel has also been involved in promoting the growth of native trees from seed amongst local schools and at the Tinker Brook Tree Nursery. It also initiated and played a major role in the establishment of the Millennium Baby Woodland at Altham.

The PROSPECTS Foundation leases the Tinker Brook site from Hyndburn Borough Council and Foundation volunteers have helped in the construction of a straw bale toilet, a nature walk and a dipping platform for the education of local school children. Tinker Brook is currently occupied by clients of the Primary Care Trust growing organic vegetables and the Panel anticiaptes that one day there will be a carbon neutral building on site provided through the efforts of the Foundation volunteers.

The Panel meets at Tinker Brook on the first Monday of the month at 7.30pm. New members and new green ideas would be very welcome!
