Rewilding Hyndburn's Green Spaces

Support for Hyndburn Food Growers

Are you part of a Community Food Growing project? Would you like the support of a project officer on your site?  Would you like help with a range of activities and training?

If so, then The Prospects Foundation can help.  Thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery PROSPECTS has received £19,975 for the Rewilding Hyndburn’s Green Spaces project.  The funding boost from Postcode Local Trust will enable PROSPECTS to create and enhance habitats for wildlife whilst providing natural resources to encourage organic practices on a wide range of community food growing sites.

PROSPECTS can work with community groups, schools and other organisations supporting them to develop their food growing areas and the wildlife habitats important for organic food growing.

PROSPECTS can run training and activity sessions on 40 topics such as creating wildflower meadows, bug hotels, organic feed borders, hedgerows, fruit bushes and heritage orchards (e.g. Lancashire apples), bird boxes and feeders, habitat piles and bog gardens etc.

Julie Livesey, the Project Officer said, “I will be organising events and will deliver some of the workshops, but for specialist events we can bring in external trainers.  Groups, schools and individuals will gain skills and the funding will enable individuals to develop their knowledge and achieve AQA Unit Award Scheme Certificates.”

Contact Julie Livesey or Barbara Sharples at PROSPECTS and they will send you a poster, an information sheet and arrange for Julie to meet with your group to discuss your requirements.
